Nutrient Mix: Half strength or maybe a 2/3 strength. I’m still working on this one. Full strength is too strong for strawberries.
pH: 5.8-6.2
Starting Seeds: No seeds. Buy bare root plants from a reputable nursery and plant them as soon as they arrive. Select a variety that will do well in your area.
Growing Temperature and Environment: 60-80F Optimum growing temperature is 65-75F. High of low temperatures may inhibit fruit development. Keeping plants dry with good air flow around them will inhibit most disease problems like grey mold (Botytis).
Pollination: Strawberries are self-fertile and usually use bees for pollination. If no bees are available, like in a greenhouse, gently brush your hand over the plant and flowers to pollinate. For large numbers of plants, use a leaf blower set on low to gently agitate the plants.
Oxygenation: If roots are constantly submerged, circulate and oxygenate 1-2 times per hour or use air stones that cause significant water agitation.
