Hydroponic Tomatoes

Difficulty Level: Intermediate

Production Method: perlite, rockwool, sand, deep water culture, Dutch bucket, ect.

Nutrient Mix: Full Strength

pH: 5.8-6.2

Starting Seeds: 70-90F. Optimum germination temperature is 75-80F. Use half strength solution until true leaves have unfolded then switch to full strength.

Growing Temperature and Environment:  65-85F. Optimum growing temperature is 70-75F. Tomatoes need full sun to grow best. Keeping foliage dry and allowing good airflow around plants will help prevent disease problems.

Pollination: Tomatoes are wind pollinated. Gently brush your hand over the plant if there is no wind. Flowers are receptive to pollination when petals curl back. Temperatures above 85F or below 60F may inhibit pollination preventing fruit development.

Oxygenation: If roots are constantly submerged then circulate and oxygenate 1-2 times per hour or use air stones that cause significant water agitation.
